Imagine standing at 6,091 meters, with the whole Manang valley spread out below you. That is what Pisang Peak gives you. It rises above the quiet village of Pisang in the Annapurna region, and it is one of the most popular trekking peaks in Nepal. Many people climb it after walking part of the Annapurna Circuit. First you walk through pine forests, dry valleys and old villages. Then the big white mountains, like Annapurna II, Annapurna IV and Gangapurna, come closer with every day.
So how does the climb work? You spend the first days walking slowly, so your body gets used to the thin air. Then you go up to Base Camp and High Camp, where you rest and get ready. Summit day starts in the dark, when the snow is hard and the air is very cold. You wear crampons, hold an ice axe and stay tied to a rope. Step by step, you go up until the sun rises and the peaks turn golden. The climb is hard, so good fitness and patience are important. March to May and September to November are the best months to try it.
You do not have to do it alone. Nepal Social Treks and Expedition has helped travelers in Nepal since 2006.
